Reversing the global trend Indian Media Industry has registered an unprecedented growth of 20%. Today, we have more than 80,000 registered Newspapers, around 1200 TV channels. Radio is back to the centre stage. In the face of this growth, there is a paucity of trained professionals in the media industry today. The department has been meeting this demand and has produoed some of the finest media professionals. The department offers M.Sc. Mass Communication course. The course is tailored to enable the students work
in Newspapers and Magazines, Radio, TV Channels and Production Houses, Advertising Agencies, and Public Relations units of private, public and Government departments, National NGO's and UN Bodies.

OBJECTIVE :
This course is tailored to meet the growing demand of man power to man the fast expanding media.
In the first year, the students are introduced to all the areas of Mass Communication. In the second year they are trained to specialize in Print Media, Electronic Media, Advertising Management, Public Relations and Corporate Communication, Social Marketing and Development Communication, Graphics and Animation.
Students are trained to work as:
- Reporters and sub-editors in Newspapers and magazines.
- News Producers in Radio and Television.
- Media Planner, Copy writer, Visualiser, Client servicing in advertising agencies.
- Public relations officer in Government, public and private sector.
- Communication strategist; Capable of giving communication support to any development project and market a social Message.
