University Sports Activities
The University Sports Department was established in the year 1996. The entire Sports Complex is spread in an area of 40 Acres. The Sports Complex has one Hall for Badminton with Two Synthetic Badminton Courts, one Hall for Table-Tennis with Four Tables, Carom board and, Chess, one Conditioning Hall (Men) for 13 station Multi-Gym, one Conditioning Hall (Women) 06 six station, Yoga and Weight lifting, three half cemented Cricket pitch, one ground each for Football, Hand ball, Cricket and Athletic Track of 400 meter and three Volleyball grounds. In addition, the Sports Complex has two cemented Basketball courts with lights, two Volleyball courts with fencing and lights, two synthetic and one cemented Lawn Tennis courts with Lights and fencing. Timings for Sports activities in summer season are Morning 05:30 A.M. to 08:30 A.M. Evening 04:30 P.M. to 08:30 P.M and winter season Morning 06:00 A.M. to 09:00 A.M. Evening 04:00 P.M. to 08:00 P.M for University students and Staff Members. The Sports Equipments/ kits are issued to the students as well as to the University Employees during tournaments. The 15 Institutes were affiliated to the University of three District i.e. Sirsa, Fatehabad and Hisar. The Inter College tournaments in various games organized by this University and some of them were also given to affiliated institutes. The University team participated in Various games like Chess, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Hand ball, Cross-Country, Weight lifting, Volleyball shooting & smashing, Cricket, and Annual Athletic Meet. Sports facilities for indoor games are also being created in the Boys and Girls Hostels. Adventure Sports activities are also conducted in various events i.e. Skiing Course, Motor Bike Tour and Trekking etc.

INCENTIVES TO OUTSTANDING SPORTS ACTIVITIES
- Cash Prize of Rs. 1500/- along with Blazer Cloth and universities Colour are awarded to the Best Athlete (Male and Female) every year at the time of Athletic meet.
- DA of students for Inter-university participation has been increased from Rs 150/- per head per day to Rs.250 per head per day.
- Track Suit/ sports kit allowance for the students / team manager / coach for Inter University participations have been increased from Rs 1000/- per head to Rs. 1500/- per head.

The Directorate of Sports organized Football and Volleyball Tournament for University Employees from March 21-22, 2016 at Sports Complex, GJUS&T, Hisar. Sh. Sukhdev Singh, (Retd. DSO, Hisar) invited as Chief Guest in Opening Ceremony on 21-03-2016. Prof. M.S. Turan, Registrar, GJUS&T, Hisar was the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony and Prize distribution function. Dr. S.B. Luthra, Director of Sports presented the vote of thanks.
- The Directorate of Sports organized National Youth Day on Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand on 12-01-2015. Chief Guest on this occasion Prof. M.S. Turan, Registrar, GJUS&T, Hisar.
- The Directorate of Sports organized Badminton Tournament for University employees on the occasion of Republic Day from Jan. 23 to 25, 2015 at Badminton Hall, GJUS&T, Hisar.
- 4th ANNUAL INTER-COLLEGE ATHLETIC MEET
The Directorate of Sports organized the 4th Annual Inter-College Athletic Tournament of the University from February 26-27, 2015 at the Sports Complex. The tournament was inaugurated by Prof. M.S. Turan, Registrar, GJUS&T, Hisar on February 26, 2015. Mr. Ajit Singh, a student of GJUS&T, Hisar and Ms. Sapna, student of GJUS&T, Hisar were adjudged the best Athlete among men & women respectively. - The Directorate of Sports organized Yoga Camp for the Employees of the University from June 11 to 13, 2015 at Sports Ground, GJUS&T, Hisar
- The Directorate of Sports organized the National Sports Day on August 29, 2015 on the occasion of National Sports Day to pay tribute to Major Dhyan Chand.
- The Directorate of Sports organized 1st UTD Sports Festival on the occasion of University Foundation Day from October 19-20, 2015 at Sports Complex, GJUS&T, Hisar. The chief guest on the occasion was Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, GJUS&T, Hisar. Prof. M.S. Turan, Registrar of the university presided over the Closing Ceremony as well as Prize distribution function.
- The Directorate of Sports Celebrated National Youth Day on the occasion of 153rd Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand on 12-01-2016 at Sports Complex, GJUS&T, Hisar. The chief guest on the occasion was Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, GJUS&T, Hisar. Prof. M.S. Turan, Registrar of the university presided over the Prize distribution function.
- The Directorate of Sports was established of Archery academy on 20-01-2016. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor was Chief Guest and Prof. M.S. Turan is presiding over the function.
- The Directorate of Sports organized Badminton and Table-Tennis Tournament on the occasion of Republic Day from Jan. 21, 22 & 25, 2016 at Badminton and T.T Hall, GJUS&T, Hisar.
- 5th Annual Inter-College Athletic Championship
The Directorate of Sports organized the 5th Annual Inter-College Athletic Championship of the University from Feb. 4-6, 2016 at the Sports Complex, GJUS&T, Hisar. Sh. Raj Kumar Sangwan, Arjuna Awardee (Boxing) invited as Chief Guest in inauguration function on Feb. 4, 2016. Prof. M.S. Turan, Registrar presided over inaugural function. Mr. Tarun, a student of GJUS&T, Hisar and Ms. Neeru, student of GJUS&T, Hisar were adjudged the best Athlete among men & women respectively. A cash award of Rs.11,000/- was given to the GJUS&T, Hisar for overall first position in Inter-College Tournament, Second Prize of Rs. 8,000/- was received by JCD College of Engg., Sirsa and Third Prize of Rs. 5,000/- was bagged by OITM, Hisar. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, GJUS&T, Hisar was the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function. Dr. S.B. Luthra, Director of Sports presented the annual report and achievements of the department. - The Directorate of Sports was started Practicing Yoga w.e.f. 16-03-2016 at University Health Centre. The practicing yoga was inaugurated by Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor with Prof. M.S. Turan, Worthy Registrar.
