OBJECTIVE : The application of Mathematics to all branches of science is well known and it has increased many-fold during the last few decades. Knowledge of Mathematics is, therefore, imperative for carrying out research and it forms a necessary input for industrial & technological development of the country. The Department offers a course in Mathematics at post-graduate level. The students of this course have the opportunities of being absorbed in teaching & research programmes in educational institutions and also in R&D wings of Industrial Establishments. The courses taught in M.Sc. Programme include Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Topology, Ordinary and Partial differential Equations, Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids, Integration Theory, Integral Equations, Differential Geometry, Functional Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, Computer Programming etc. Apart from the course curriculum, extension lectures by subject experts and seminars, etc. are the important activities of the department. The Department is having a well equipped Computing Lab.

OBJECTIVE : The B. Sc-M.Sc dual degree is a program to promote interdisciplinary and a significant research component. During first year the program provides comprehensive training in all basic sciences though students are assigned major subject in first year itself. Students from courses in specific subjects, some inter-disciplinary courses are also offered on a regular basis. These courses are in areas that are useful to multiple branches of science, and Environmental sciences, Computational sciences, etc.
