The department offers a 2-years course of M.A. (English).
The Department of English is usually one of the most vibrant and dynamic departments of a university. It was established in 2019 under the umbrella of the department of Communication, Management & Technology. The Department is committed to promote an intellectual climate through artistic creation, critical mediation and innovative ideation. It inculcates among its students a critical reading of the individual and the society at large with the aim of moulding them into responsible and socially sensitive citizens. It facilitates their holistic development by building emotional, academic, social, professional and global competencies. It aspires to create a nuanced understanding of canonical and non-canonical literary and cultural texts, their social milieu for an engaged and enduring understanding of life. Headed by Prof. Umesh Arya and ably supported by a dedicated team, the department promises to strive, explore and achieve.

OBJECTIVE : Being a dynamic language, English offers a plethora of opportunities that opens the window to the world. The M.A. English course focuses on the study of literature beginning with an introduction to British Literature and proceeds to the newer areas of writings in English. The students will be made familiar with the legacy of significant concepts, contexts and ideologies associated with literary periods. In order to cope with the emerging trends, students will be kept updated with the latest literary advancements and will be acquainted with linguistics and phonetics to sharpen their communication skills. The course is tailored to engage the students in their progressively advanced discourse and bespeaks aesthetic and critical discernment through close textual analysis. It will provide them a platform to voice their views and argue their positions on the larger issues evoked by the study of literature.
