The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is a pioneering academic centre for education at undergraduate and post graduate level. The Department has grown many folds in academics and infra-structure since its inception. The Department has qualified and experienced faculty. Strong research groups exist in the area of Data Mining, Soft Computing, Ad-hoc Mobile Networks, Software Engineering and Image Processing. The increasing number of good research publications in International Journals and Conference proceedings of great repute is a welcome sign of the growing research activities of the Department. UGC has recognized the academic and research achievements of the Department and recommended it under its Special Assistance Programme (SAP-Phase II). OBJECTIVE : The Department of Computer Science and Engineering started the M.Tech. Programme in 1995 and since then the Department has produced many post-graduates who are now working in the institutions of national and international repute. The content of the Programme have been modified over time to meet changing scenarios in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. The M. Tech. programme intends to follow the framework of Outcome Based Education (OBE). In this context, the Programme Educational Objectives and Programme Outcomes have been defined. Further, the outcomes for all the courses have also been defined and included in the syllabus. The PEOs and POs are given below.

OBJECTIVE : This course has been created to cope with the ever increasing demand for computer personnel in almost all walks of life, especially the industrial sector. Accordingly, the Department has been equipped at a fast pace with computer laboratories possessing latest hardware and software facilities, Internet facility, audio-video gadgets, and modern teaching aids. Apart from offering an intensive dose of theoretical knowledge to the students, they are imparted regular practical in-house training and on the job training in some reputed organisations.

OBJECTIVE : In last four decades, computers have developed dramatically. They have revolutionized every phase of human life. Computers have now become basic need of every field like communications, medical, education, science, industries, recreation, agriculture, aviation, defence, etc. The Computer professionals have more bright future in due course of time.

B.Tech. (Information Technology) (NBA Accredited)

OBJECTIVE : Information Technology has emerged as a separate of Engineering. This is basically a combination of the computers and electronics engineering. Now this branch is accepted as a full fledged engineering discipline. Information Technology makes the world very small and helps in rapid industrialization and globalization of various activities. It has a vast potential in more or less every activity related to mankind. Information Technology is already recognised in the field of business, insurance, commerce, telecommunication, industries, health services, etc.

Master's degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate in the subject concerned or in a allied subject. (50% for SC/ST candidates).

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION : Entrance Test

(i) The candidates passing the entrance test with at least 50% marks (for SC 45% marks) will be eligible for registration. The candidates who have qualified JRF (valid) conducted by the UGC/CSIR/DBT/DST and ASRB, foreign students and Regular Faculty of GJUS&T will be exempted from appearing in the entrance test for Ph. D. Programme.
(ii) Entrance test shall be followed by an interview to be organized by the Department/School concerned. At the time of interview, doctoral candidates are expected to discuss their research interest/area. The Ph. D Candidates shall publish two research papers in refereed journals/book(s) before the submission of thesis and the thesis shall be finally referred to two examiners out of which atleast one shall be from outside the state. For Admission to B.Tech. programmes : Admissions to all B.Tech. programmes shall be made through on-line counseling by the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES), Panchkula.
Admission to Lateral Entry to 2nd year (LEET) of B.Tech. shall be made through On-line Entrance Test to be conducted by Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES), Panchkula.

For Admission to MCA programme : The admissions to MCA courses shall be on the basis of rank obtained by the candidates in online entrance test conducted by HSTES . The test shall be common for MCA
