The Department offers Dual Degree B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology- M.Sc. (Biotechnology), M.Sc.(Biotechnology), M.Sc. (Microbiology) and M.Tech.( Nano Science and Technology) as well as three Ph.D. Programs in Biotechnology, Microbiology and Nano Science & Technology. We have emerged as a centre of excellence and innovation in imparting quality teaching and training to propagate multi-disciplinary research activities in diverse field of biological science with a focus on Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Microbial Biotechnology and Nano Biotechnology. The department train and mentor the next generation of scientists in diverse fields of life-science-research blended with cutting edge technologies in service of mankind at all levels. Department is equipped with ultra-modern equipments with state of the art laboratory facilities and has dedicated faculty engaged in the genetic improvement of industrially, agriculturally and medicinally important plant & microbes through recombinant DNA technology, genomics, metabolomics transcriptomics and bioinformatics approaches. Development of nano biosensors and synthesis, application and toxicological studies of nano materials is being rigorously pursued. Department has excellent Bioinformatics facility with financial assistance under BIF Program from the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Department has been supported under SAP/DRS-II Program from UGC, New Delhi, FIST-II from Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi and TEQIP III -World Bank Assisted Project.
Dual degree B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology- M.Sc. (Biotechnology) (3+2=5 years, Semester System) is a flexible and integrated program of study which promotes student to be specialized in Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Microbial Biotechnology and Nanobiotechnology. This unique course blends the best of basic and applied biological sciences to create professionals who are equally comfortable with both science and technology. A two years (Four Semesters) M.Sc. Biotechnology Programme is sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Apart from the basic and advanced course in biotechnology, students have to undergo a 14 to 16 weeks of Investigation Problem during the 4th semester which forms an integral part of the course curriculum major thrust being on research areas pertinent to plant biotechnology, food biotechnology, animal biotechnology, microbial biotechnology. Each of the enrolled students under DBT sponsored seats is eligible for monthly stipend as per DBT guidelines. A two years (Four Semesters) M.Sc. Microbiology Programme is offered for imparting quality education for commercial exploitation of microorganisms for the production of value added products and services. A two-years (Four Semesters) M.Tech. Nano Science and Technology Programme is specially designed to impart quality teaching and consultative research in Nano Science & Technology.

OBJECTIVE : Nature has created large variety of molecular devices, which are working in living system ranging from microorganism to human beings. The life processes and materials have been perfected by nature in millions of years. Thus it is proposed to establish a lead Centre of Excellence of Nano Science and Technology at the Department of Bio & Nano Technology, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar for development of biomolecular and bionano devices based on biomolecules and devices functional in living systems. The M.Tech. Program is specially designed to impart quality teaching and consultative research in Nano Science & Technology and is a two-year (four semesters) program. It will generate competent technocrats and a knowledge powerhouse in the innovative technology by imparting M.Tech. and Ph.D. program in Nano Science & Technology. It will support the economic growth & welfare of the society through generation of human resource development by way of trained manpower in Nano Science & Technology. The M.Tech. Program is sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Each of the enrolled students is eligible for monthly Student Fellowship @ Rs. 8000/- per month and contingency grant of Rs. 25,000 per annum or as per DST guidelines.

Program is sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi offering courses on Introductory Biotechnology, Structure, Function & Metabolism of Biomolecules, Cell Biology, General & Applied Microbiology, and introduction of Computers & Programming, Biochemical & Biophysical Techniques, Gene Structure Function & Regulation, Immunology & Animal Cell Culture, Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, Fermentation Technology, Genetic Engineering, Enzymology & Enzyme Technology, Molecular Genetics, Food Biotechnology, Introductory Bioinformatics, Agricultural Biotechnology & IPR , Environmental Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology. OBJECTIVE :Microbiology is associated with the commercial exploitation of Micro organisms for the production of value added products and services. The Microbial product may be a Microbial biomcess, enxymes, chemicals, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies. Amino acids, organic acids etc. the services generated by Micro organisms range from degradation of organic wastes. Detoccification of industrial wastes and toxic compounds, degradation of petroleum to managing oil spills, Microbiology also encompasses activities like production of beo control agents inoculants used as Biofertilizer, keeping in view the extensive scope and activities of microbiology a two year M.Sc. (Microbiology) course has been designed with flexibility to meet the needs of changing times. The department of Bio & Nano Technology has already state of the act laboratories for doing teaching and research in the area of applied microbiology. The laboratories have been continuously uploaded in the lost ten years with research grants and financial support from various funding agencies.

OBJECTIVE : The B. Sc-M.Sc dual degree is a program to promote interdisciplinary and a significant research component. During first year the program provides comprehensive training in all basic sciences though students are assigned major subject in first year itself. Students from courses in specific subjects, some inter-disciplinary courses are also offered on a regular basis. These courses are in areas that are useful to multiple branches of science, and Environmental sciences, Computational sciences, etc.
